Professor Juan Pablo Garcia (JP) has inspired me to become fierce and confident, not just on the mats, but also in my personal and professional life. He continues to encourage me to reach new heights. I’m only a white belt, but I have fallen in love with the art in a large part due to Professor JP’s teaching and approach. The tone he sets in the gym creates an atmosphere of congeniality and camaraderie. He is an inspiration in character in addition to having some of the cleanest Jiu-Jitsu techniques. He has the ability to convey tiny technical details that make all the difference. He clearly cares about the personal growth of his students, and has a pleasant, down-to-earth humility that belies his tremendous talent. The allegiance and endearment by his students says it all. Professor JP’s encouragement along my personal journey is the dimension of value that has made the most impact for me. His words of wisdom have kept me positive, motivated and patient. Thank you Professor JP. You have made such a difference in many aspects of my life. I am proud to say you are my mentor, my hero, my friend, and my Professor.

Professor JP teaches techniques with a high level of detail from his many years of experience; that breeds confidence in both the adults and children that he teaches. Classes are challenging, but fun, and everyone pushes each other to get better. His energy is contagious and the excitement he gets when he sees his students improving is encouraging. There feels like an endless number of techniques that he knows and he is always willing to answer the next question. I am very glad to have Professor as an instructor and a friend and look forward to many years training with him.

Professor JP is a rare find. As an instructor, his approach to teaching BJJ is superb! His knowledge of techniques is endless and he willingly shares this with his students. He takes the same approach and treats every student with the utmost respect, no matter the rank, competitor or not. As a person, JP is very personable and gets along with everyone. He makes himself available for everything; whether there is a gathering outside of the mats, to aid a student in preparation for a tournament, or for a dose of encouragement. JP is a leader! And we are all following his steps!

Unlike other instructors Professor JP will make sure that you execute every move he teaches you perfectly. Seeing him receive his black belt has inspired me to never back down and follow the dream of someday becoming a blackbelt under his name. JP is one of the best instructors that I've had the pleasure learning from. I've only had the opportunity to take a few of his classes, but what I learned from him has gone along way for me in my training. On a personal note, you can really tell when someone genuinely loves what they do and cares about their students, JP is definitely that person. You can see it in his day to day actions that there is nothing he would rather be doing than teaching BJJ to his students. Anyone looking for an A+ Instructor they will definitely find it in JP. Thanks

Prof. JP is probably one of the most nice and caring people around. Not only is he a great instructor but he has created an amazing Jui-jitsu environment. Being at his school is like being at home. I always have a great time and learn so much from his classes. He is extremely thorough makes sure we are understanding every aspect of the move or position. Just being around him and the school for a short time it is easy to tell he trains champions, but not just on the mat champions in life as well.

During and after class we spoke for a while and he invited me to come to Encinio to train next time I was in town. Just so happens I was called back to CA a few weeks later and trained at his school.. I can honestly say that Professor JP is one of the most dedicated and nicest person you will meet. I don't even know where to really start? I was a pro mma fighter from 96 till 2008. I started my jits about 3 weeks before my first fight. Long story short around 2000/2001, I stopped putting on a Gi. To be honest I stopped training with a Gi around 98 sometime but the belts kept coming cause of my advancement in mma.I was training out of a jiu jitsu school but my Gi Jiu Jitsu never improved. I was a mma fighter, why did I need to put on a Gi for? I have trained all over the world and never thought it would ever happen, until I met JP! Everything about this guy amazing! His mannerism, his method of teaching, the way he makes every single person feel so welcome and so at home! I tell him all the time that I have been waiting 10 years for him! He is the man, period! I know this is the man that I am supposed to get my black belt from!! Its such a great feeling when you respect your teacher so much that you feel horrible when you miss a class! Juan Pablo makes you want to learn and want to improve! I also have ALL my fight team training under him! ALL THE LOVE AND RESPECT IN THE WORLD TO PROFESSOR JUAN PABLO GARCIA!!!

He lives and breathes Gracie Barra Encino, which is the type of attitude that makes me want to get off the couch and hit the mats. He and the team he has made are the reason I show up day after day to roll. He pays so much attention to detail, making sure every move is executed precisely. If you ever want a great BJJ experience, for beginners or advanced players, his GB Encino gym is the place to be. Professor Juan Pablo is the man!

Professor JP is a great instructor. He's helped me improve so much. When I first started training with Professor JP, he used to put his fist between my back and the ground and squash me down. It was VERY uncomfortable and I couldn't figure out why he was doing it. I didn't like it so I did everything I could to avoid getting flattened out. That's when I realized what he was doing. It was probably the most helpful lesson I've ever had and one I'll never forget.

Professor JP has been a blast to train with. My daughter (6 years old) and my son (10 years old) enjoy training with professor JP as well. He is just as good with kids as he is with adults. I always feel like he goes beyond on teaching every chance he gets. He shows true interest in trying to improve each and every student of his. As far as Pacific Top Team Corona, it feels like we are all family thanks to Professor JP My quick background; I'm 31 and have never done any martial arts or combat training. Professor JP makes it comfortable to learn BJJ to even a novice like myself.

Professor JP is a very patient jiu-jitsu instructor. As soon as you walk into his class you feel very welcomed and are treated like family. It is very obvious that he loves what he does. I would recommend to anybody just starting on their jiu-jitsu journey or to people that want to expand their knowledge

Professor JP Garcia is truly a great instructor, friend and mentor. I can not stress how humble and giving he is. He extends himself to all his students above and beyond the mats. He is passionate about his craft and about people. The Children's classes are phenomenal and my daughter asks to go everyday as she feels she gets more attention and has a lot of fun. If you get the opportunity to learn or even meet JP you will feel the same way.

Professor JP Garcia is an amazing instructor. He is a great motivator and a great instructor. He definitely is the encyclopedia of jiu jitsu. He has a wealth of knowledge and breaks down each so that you the student will understand the move. Professor JP does not leave any student behind and is geniuely invested in your (the student) growth in jiu jitsu. Professor JP Garcia is a world class instructor.

The head instructor JP Garcia is sleeping with one of his female coaches who is married to one of his former students. The guy is a wolf in sheeps clothing. He acts nice and friendly on the outside but the dude is pure evil. Anyone who can break a family up has no respect in my book. Don't trust your kids, girlfriends or wives around this guy. Run as far away from his school as you possibly can. Plenty of other decent schools around that area where the instructors don't sleep with their students.

Re: Zoey Barns Can you share any more info on that? That's a serious allegation, and I know someone who trains here that wouldn't if this were verifiable.

It's true! they guy decides to sleep with a married women and tears apart a family of 6. He's out just to get your money. No respect for people like him. Thats why so many students left his school as soon as they saw the proof of them having an affair. SCUMBAG!

I know both parts, and the female you talking about was separated for a year and also with a restriction order cuz the ex use to abuse her. Proud of Professor JP for sticking and support her on all this drama. Both really good people who help a lot of people also. Guy is still in a rant making her life imposible and just talking crap. Only hurting his kids on the way disrespecting their mother.

David, I know both parts as well. I know the family fairly well and I used to train there when they were good. There are two sides to every story. I heard the husband was verbally abusive because his wife was spending all her time with the instructor, her and JP went to Miami together. The instructor would only drill with the dude's wife and no one else. It pissed a lot of people off in the school to see how much time he was spending with her and no one else. I'm sorry but if that were my wife I'd be pissed off too and be yelling. Recently I heard he lost half of his students when the cheating came out in December. If half the school leaves, they didn't do it because of the accusation, they did it because they saw with their own eyes what was going on there. I heard the husband and wife are still married now. The husband i heard was paying for everything working on his marriage trying to save his family while his wife was being smashed by this jerk. I also heard the instructor just lost one of his first families because he was ripping them off. They were saying to some mutual friends of mine that JP was charging them to be instructors as white belts, he was charging them to make their kids instructors as junior coaches. He added a ton of kids belts to make more money off of the parents for promotions. He locked people into non refundable contracts, even some people I heard he was charging them $5000 for a black belt. I'm sorry, this guy is just bad bad bad and needs to be outed for his shady business practices. Everyone I talk to says he is just not a good guy after everything that has happened. Regardless if the wife was separated, restraining order whatever, he should have told her hey, fix your home life, get a divorce and then we will talk. Sounds like the wife liked the money and lifestyle her husband provided but she wanted to have her cake and eat it too by sleeping with the instructor. Stay away from Juan Pablo Garcia.

I recently left this guys school with my family. He is con artist all around. He took me and my family for a lot of money in rash guards, gis etc. I have both my kids competing and this guy would not even show up to coach my kids at the competitions. Even when he did show up he would get into disputes with the referees because he didn't understand the rules. He had us signing up to be coaches when we were only white belts, we paid for airfare and trips to Chile for a Jiu Jitsu camp he was selling there. The guy doesn't care about people or family, he only cares about money. Stay away from this guy, there is a reason he no longer works for Gracie Barra. I heard he got his first degree from Carlos Gracie Jr., he had a falling out with them and then in order to keep lineage he paid a ton of money to Joe Moreira to get his second degree. Now days every month he is either hosting a seminar for Joe Moreira or Joe's instructor Master Francisco Mansor to get more students to sign up for his school.

I just found out that Juan Pablo Garcia of Pacific Top Team in Corona has a student/coach in his school named Adrian who who was arrested for possession of child pornography. I'm sorry folks, but this is just bad. I have seen pictures of this coach with children training them in his classes. Keep your kids and family away from Pacific Top Team and JP Garcia in Corona. I wouldn't want my kids around a registered sex offender and it is is disgusting that JP employees people like this. I guess money is more important than children's safety.

JP lack integrity and morals. I had my children at the academy for approximately two years. He does not care about the children that attend his academy and will side with immoral adults over the children at the academy. He will tell you it's just business. Maybe he agrees with an immoral life style.
